About Post Scholarships

The SAME Strategic Plan challenges SAME members and Posts to “lead efforts to inspire, encourage, and enable youth to pursue STEM careers; and help the technical capacity that our national needs to remain globally competitive.”

The Society does this by cultivating a robust student membership. Student members represent the next generation of innovative STEM thinkers ready to take on society’s challenges. Through scholarships, SAME makes an investment in student members to keep them on a path to a STEM career.

SAME Posts collectively award more than $1.2 million annually for academic scholarships to student members. Posts looking to establish or grow your scholarship program can access the Scholarship Program Guidelines below.

HOW TO FIND A SCHOLARSHIP

SAME Posts issue their scholarship applications directly or through the SAME Member Portal (see below). To find out if a Post near your home or school offers scholarship assistance, go to the Find-a-Post page. Click on the individual post and search their website for scholarship information OR log into your SAME Member Account and go directly to the online Scholarship forms.

If you have questions about SAME scholarships, please contact Jeannine Finton, SAME STEM Coordinator.

To Apply

To apply to any of the SAME post scholarships, you must be an SAME student member. Student membership is FREE (through undergraduate level).

Become an SAME Student member here.

Two application options:

1. Visit the Post website and follow their instructions for applying to their scholarships. Please keep in mind that most SAME scholarships prioritize applicants from the surrounding geography or applicants applying to a school near to that Post. Many also restrict intended majors to STEM related degrees. Please read each Posts scholarship instructions before applying.

2. Some Posts utilize the SAME website to manage their application process. See the list below. To apply to one of these scholarships, use your student member ID and password to log into your member account. If you have forgotten your ID or password, send an email to member@same.org to reset your password.

Once you are logged in, click on your name in the blue bar near the top right of the page. Then scroll down your member dashboard to the Scholarships section and click on the application you seek. You’ll be able to make edits until you submit the application before submitting.

“Though my career as an engineer has barely begun, I have had a relationship with SAME since I was in 8th grade when I visited the Northern Virginia Post to present my model rocket. I later received a scholarship to attend the SAME/U.S. Army Engineering & Construction Camp in Vicksburg, Miss., and earned two Post scholarships for college. SAME has provided me with many great connections and networking opportunities all along the way.”
