Mission

The mission of the Joint Engineering Contingency Operations Community of Interest is to facilitate discussion among the military services and industry on current joint engineer operations and the issues that need to be addressed for future joint engineer operations.

  • Include combatant command engineers, field commanders, training center commanders and supporting contractors.
  • Facilitate discussion among the Engineer Officer training centers at AFIT, AES, CECOS and the Marine Corps Center of Excellence on training and education of engineer forces to support the combatant commanders.

The desired end state is the increased relevancy of SAME within the Joint Force and Component Engineer Communities while supporting Contingency Operations.

Joint Engineer Operations Course

The JEOC teaches students to understand sister service engineer capabilities and considerations for joint engineer staff and prepares engineers for future joint deployments, staff assignments, and homeland operations. It also prepares engineers from all military services for assignment to a Joint Task Force. The course focuses on joint engineer doctrine, service engineer capabilities, and how to use service engineer capabilities in support of global engineering requirements. Industry members provide the contractor perspective from the private side through a session "Contractors on the Battlefield."  To learn more about the opportunity to sponsor this program, contact Kathy Off.

“SAME supports the Joint Engineer Operations Course by providing perspective from industry contractors who have experience in downrange operations. The Contractors on the Battlefield briefings gives insight into how the engineer forces work in concert with contractors and are able to leverage one another's skills and capabilities.”
