901 17th Street NW
Washington, DC 20006

When: September 14, 2017
9:30 – 10:00AM: Registration and Networking

12:00 - 12:20PM: Lunch
12:20 – 01:00PM: Case Study - RMG Engineering

Session 1: Positioning Your Firm
Gloria Larkin, President & CEO, TargetGov
The process involved in winning a federal contract starts well before the RFP is announced. Yet most companies do not know what is involved in effectively positioning to win nor what specific steps must be taken, when and with whom. Specific discussion topics include:

  • Practical real-world discussion of government business development and marketing tactics used in the federal marketplace
  • Tactics and timing changes based on targets: agencies, primes, general contractors and teaming partners
  • Improving marketing and business development ROI and increase win rates

Session 2: Capture Planning and Proposal Development
Jeff Shen, Vice President, Red Team Consulting
Today federal contractors are pursuing more opportunities with fewer resources in an increasingly competitive environment. Often, companies are not performing the most critical tasks in their capture and proposal pursuits that best position their company for a win. This session will focus on the pre-RFP capture tasks and proposal development strategies you can follow to increase your likelihood of winning an opportunity.  Specific discussion topics include:

  • Understanding the government evaluation process
  • Guidance developing a capture strategy
  • Effective and efficient proposal management tools
  • Following a sequential writing process
  • Conducting meaningful reviews
  • Avoiding common errors and improve the quality of your proposals to the government

Lunch: Case Study - Positioning RMF Engineering
Bob Smith, Vice President
Liz Hartlaub, Business Development/Marketing Supervisor, RMF Engineering
RMF Engineering will present three case studies detailing how the firm has utilized these methodologies to win federal contracts.  They will outline the strategies they used to position their company, what they did to distinguish themselves from the competition, and how they ultimately won each of the opportunities.  They will incorporate the lessons they learned and best practices into each of the three case studies.
