SAME Engineering and Construction Camps

(Do not need to be SMP participant)

For over 30 years, SAME has been advancing events and activities and offering scholarships designed to excite students to become engineers. SAME, in collaboration with the military services, offers a series of week-long, Engineering and Construction Camps designed for high school students who excel in math, science and technology courses and are interested in pursuing engineering, architecture, or related fields in college. Each of the camps has their unique curriculum, with the common thread being: challenging environment, hands-on activities, mentors who are young engineers, long term resources for alumni. The Army camp is in Vicksburg, Mississippi; the Air Force Academy Camp is in Colorado Springs, CO; the U.S. Air Force Camp is at Scott AFB, IL; and the U.S. Marine Corps Camp is in Camp Lejeune, NC.

The SAME Omaha Post is now accepting applications for the SAME Engineering and Construction Camps. The Omaha Post will pay for the camp fee and the participant pays for transportation to the camp. The application deadline is March 1st - EXCEPT for the US Army Camp. That deadline is March 29th.

Students will be applying through the online portal. Applicants will first create a Camper Account and then will register for the particular camp that they are interested in attending. As part of the process, applicants will pick the Post that they wish to sponsor them.

The potential campers will be entering personal, demographic and education information into the application. If they are selected for camp, they will then provide release forms, medical forms or any other documents as needed.

For any additional information on these scholarships or camps please contact Joe Shields.
