About the Post

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) was founded in 1920 and chartered in the District of Columbia on December 5, 1924 “in the interests of National Defense; to advance knowledge of the science of military engineering; to promote efficiency in the military engineer service of the United States; to encourage, foster, and develop between military engineers and other arms of the military service a spirit of co-operation and a mutual understanding of their respective duties, powers, and limitations; and to encourage, foster, and develop relations of helpful interest between the engineering profession in civil life and that in the military service.”

The mission of the SAME Kittyhawk Post is to further promote SAME’s overall mission to private and government professionals in the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley Regions. Read SAME's 2025 Strategic Plan for more information.

MISSION, VISION, VALUES

SAME Mission
“To build leaders and lead collaboration among government and industry to develop multidisciplined solutions to national security infrastructure challenges.”

 SAME Vision
“To serve our nation as the foremost integrator for leadership development and technical collaboration within the A/E/C profession.”

Our Enduring Purpose
“To promote solidarity and cooperation between engineers in civil and military life, to disseminate technical knowledge bearing upon progress in the art of war and the application of engineering science thereto, and to preserve and maintain the best standards and traditions of the profession, all in the interests of patriotism and national security.”

THE SAME VALUES
Integrity:
Unwavering commitment to always do what is right, regardless of consequences.
Patriotism: Support our national ideals and take pride in our country.
Public Service: Recognize the critical contribution that public servants make in supporting the economic and environmental needs of the nation.
National Security: Recognize the dedication of our national security team, comprised of the uniformed services, civil service and contractors, in defending freedom.
Technical Competence: Deliver high-quality solutions.
Excellence: Strive for the highest standards of performance in all actions, both personal and professional.
Environmental Stewardship: Preserve, protect, conserve and restore our national resources through sustainable development.

The Kittyhawk Post accomplishes this goal locally by supporting monthly luncheon meetings and other professional/social activities attended by members of local government, military, private industry, students and other interested parties. Meetings are announced via our e-mail. We are supported by the national Society of American Military Engineers and publications such as The Military Engineer, which also promotes the interests and goals of our society and its members. Please peruse our website to discover the benefits of SAME Kittyhawk Post membership.
