Message from the Post President
I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to serve as this year’s Fort Benning-Columbus, GA Chapter President. Our chapter will continue on the path established by our previous past President, COL (Ret) Rick Clapp and the governing Board of Directors.
Columbus, GA is very fortunate to have a vast array of professional A/E/C firms in our community and we look forward to engaging them and other prospective agencies as we strive to meet our common SAME mission.
In line with SAME’s mission to promote and facilitate engineering support for national security by developing and enhancing relationships and competencies among uniformed services, public and private sector engineers and related professionals, it is the chapter’s goal to do the following:
- Engage a larger portion of the public and private sector through corporate memberships and professional development.
- Develop a more engaging relationship with our engineering professionals in the uniformed services.
- Improve our outreach program with local high schools and universities to grow future engineers and related professionals.
- Provide meaningful opportunities for students in the Fort Benning-Columbus, GA area to apply and obtain scholarship assistance as they endeavor to become future leaders in our professional fields.
We have already begun a very aggressive and comprehensive professional education series through our monthly meetings. We want to expand that to include a greater opportunity for our Soldiers to attend and grow.
These goals are lofty, but achievable with the help of the great members we currently have. We look forward to this exciting year and encourage input and involvement from all of our members as we move forward meeting this year’s goals.
We couldn’t do it without each of you.
