Programs

Credentialing Assistance Program

SAME is continuing the Credentialing Assistance Program (CAP) to promote the professional development of SAME Young Professionals and Enlisted Members in support of the SAME Strategic Plan. The CAP serves to fulfill an objective which is to provide financial support for professional development, education, and mentoring initiatives to benefit our SAME members.

SAME will reimburse a portion of exam sitting or registration fees for Young Professional or Enlisted Member. The full program details and application are located here. For questions regarding the program and to submit your application, please contact Tim Dahms, YP Vice-chair for Credentialing.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Veteran Transition Program
The SAME Transition Program directly addresses Goal 5, Objective 4 of the 2025 Strategic Plan: “Sponsor leader development, networking, mentoring, and job fair opportunities for transitioning servicemembers that connect them to trade labor unions, industry organizations, and other professional resources.”  Towards that end, SAME has held a Transition Workshop for more than 14 years.  Traditionally, it allowed sustaining members to make strategic hires from a pool of O6 and above candidates. The workshop has expanded to include junior officers and enlisted which sustaining members are in need of more than ever.

The 2021 Workshop was held virtually which allowed for more job seeker participation and the addition of a very popular mentoring component.  As the state of the market is favorable to job seekers, SAME is moving forward with an in-person event in February, 2022. Details are still TBD.

SAME Module at Sergeants Major Course (in progress)

If we were able to send a representative to branch week, a week dedicated to educating members in their respective occupations (Engineer Branch), we could potentially recruit future Senior Enlisted Leaders as members. These members can then share their knowledge and experience of SAME to their future units and junior members. By providing this opportunity and using the SAME credentialing and training programs as incentive, engineer students attending the SMC would join and then encourage their junior enlisted members to join at their follow-on units. This will create a growth in recruitment and interest in the Society. The module is in-development. For more information, contact SMSgt Philip McAlpin, Jr.

Credentialing

Be better prepared for your job - in the service and beyond - by getting the right credentials now!  SAME can help.

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) has an extraordinarily broad group of professionals. That is what makes the society so unique. We are not a single profession talking about issues facing our nations infrastructure; we are collectively looking at the big picture to overcome challenges together. SAME is invested in providing its membership with the tools and resources to develop and advance their careers within the Architect/Engineer/Construction (A/E/C) Industry. The Credentialing Committee is meant for our members to understand the importance of credentials, what credentials apply to the A/E/C industry, and how to get and maintain them. SAME wants to provide our members with the resources to be successful in their pursuit for credentials.
